Bil Senedd Cymru (Rhestrau Ymgeiswyr Etholiadol)| Senedd Cymru (Electoral Candidate Lists) Bill

Ymateb gan Unigolyn| Evidence from Individual

What are your views on the general principles of the Bill and the need for legislation to deliver the Welsh Government’s stated policy objective (to make the Senedd a more effective legislature by ensuring it is broadly representative of the gender make-up of the population)?

The electorate needs to choose exactly who they want to vote for. This selection of 50/50 men women is un democratic, we need to vote for the best candidate, irrespective of gender.

What are your views on the system of enforcement and potential sanctions for non-compliance proposed in the Bill?

Quite pointless and sexist. What next?

We need best candidates irrespective of gender.

Are there any potential barriers to the implementation of the Bill’s provisions? If so, what are they, and are they adequately taken into account in the Bill and the accompanying Explanatory Memorandum and Regulatory Impact Assessment?

They will alienate the voter, who will feel their vote is not being hears, and will stay away from elections.

Are any unintended consequences likely to arise from the Bill?

Yes, very low turnout, pointless us voting when manipulation of results will deny the best candidates the opportunity to stand and getting elected. Purely on the basis of gender.

What are your views on the Welsh Government’s assessment of the financial and other impacts of the Bill?

Welsh Government is not very good at assessing financial impact of anything. This is more wasted taxpayers money, introducing  and imposing a system the Welsh public do not need or want.

What are your views on the balance between the information contained on the face of the Bill and what is left to subordinate legislation? Are the powers for Welsh Ministers to make subordinate legislation appropriate?

No, it is blatantly sexist. The whole bill is pointless bureaucracy,

Do you have any views on matters relating to the legislative competence of the Senedd including compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights?

The Sennedd imposes unnecessary rules, limiting the installation of the very best candidates, And in doing so dismisses the human rights of both the electorate and the candidates that do not get elected based purely upon their gender

Do you have any views on matters related to the quality of the legislation, or to the constitutional or other implications of the Bill?

Child like, dictatorial and unnecessary.

It seeks to ignore the will of the electorate, by failing to allow the best candidates to be elected purely because of their gender.

Are there any other issues that you would like to raise about the Bill and the accompanying Explanatory Memorandum or any related matters?

It is morally corrupt. And should not be allowed to happen.

Anything else?

The electorate cares not if the Sennedd is full of women, it cares not if it’s full of men, But it does care that the best people do not get selected, because they cannot vote for the individual or the choice of candidate is based upon gender.
